Avicii’s Family announces funeral plans

The family of Tim Bergling, the dance music star known as Avicii, who committed suicide on April 20 at age 28, have released a statement regarding their funeral plans, which they wish to be private.

There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii,” the statement reads.

The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”


Pulitzer prize-winning author Philip Roth dies at 85

American novelist responsible for such seminal works as “American Pastoral” and “Goodbye, Columbus,” Phillip Roth, died Tuesday, aged 85.

Roth died of congestive heart failure surrounded by close friends and family, his friend Judith Thurman said, according to CNN.

I’m in a state of shock. I’m stunned and speechless. He was a truth teller,” Thurman said.


R. Kelly sued for alleged sexual assault

A 20-year-old woman has filed suit against singer R. Kelly, claiming he unlawfully gave her alcohol, assaulted her and gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

According to the CNN, Faith Rodgers says she was 19 when she first met the singer last year after Kelly performed in San Antonio, Texas.

Rodgers says she was in a year-long relationship with Kelly, formed “under the auspices of helping her develop a career in entertainment.”


15-year-old Brynn Cartelli wins Season 14 of The Voice, becomes youngest winner in series history

The fan-favourite contestant of season 14 was crowned the winner of The Voice on Tuesday.

Brynn Cartelli, 15, officially becomes the youngest finalist to win in series history as previous teen winners were Danielle Bradbery (season 4) and Sawyer Christopher Fredericks (season 8), both 16.

Cartelli’s win marks the very first victory for first-time coach Kelly Clarkson.


The 2018 World Cup official song will reportedly be performed by Will Smith, American singer Nicky Jam, and Kosovo singer Era Istrefi, and will be produced by American DJ Diplo.

The rapper, singer and Hollywood actor posted a picture on Instagram of himself with Nicky Jam, with the caption: “One Life to Live. Live it Up. #2018FIFAWorldCup.”

He also tagged Diplo and Kosovar singer and songwriter Era Istrefi in the post.

The four are believed to have filmed the video for the World Cup track over the weekend.


French filmmaker Luc Besson – known for movies including The Fifth Element and Leon – has been accused of raping an actress in Paris.

A 27-year-old woman claims Besson drugged her before sexually assaulting her, news agencies have reported.

According to Europe 1 radio, which broke the story, Besson’s accuser said she had “drunk a cup of tea, then felt unwell and lost consciousness“.

When she came round she remembered being sexually assaulted, the station quoted her as saying.

Besson has denied these “fantasist accusations,” his lawyer, Thierry Marembertsaid. He stated that the complainant is someone Besson knows, “towards whom he has never behaved inappropriately.”

In a statement to T.H.R., Marembert added that Besson “fell off his chair when he learned of these accusations.”
