Moments from the MTV Movie and TV awards

MTV debuted the first edition of its Movie and TV awards where it honours talents from the big and small screen in one night.

Emma Watson won the Best actor in a movie award for Beauty and the Beast, Trevor Noah won Best Host for The Daily Show beating Ellen DeGeneres in the category.

Other winners include Taraji P. Henson for Best Hero (Hidden Figures), Beauty and the Beast for Movie of the Year and the Generation Award went to the Fast and Furious franchise.

Receiving the Generation Award, actor Vin Diesel gave a tribute to late Fast actor, Paul Walker with whom he received Best Duo on the same stage in 2002.

Diesel said, “I could never stand on the stage and talk about Fast and Furious without giving love to my brother, Pablo (Paul Walker), our brother Pablo, we hope you are proud, thank you so much“.

The show was hosted by American comedian and actor, Adam Devine.

Kanye West had a few announcements to make on Friday…

Rapper Kanye West did the strangest thing on Friday afternoon.

The 39-year-old deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts leaving fans confused as to what must have informed that decision.

Kanye’s reason for going off social media remains unknown but he was also absent at the 2017 Met Gala where his wife, Kim Kardashian told the press Kanye was “taking some time off and really loving that“.

Later that day though, the couple announced the launch of their kids’ clothing line: TheKidsSupply.

Kim announced the line in a number of tweets, one of which read, “For the past few years Kanye and I have made almost all of our kids clothes and we have collaborated on a new kids line!”

The collection has everything for parents who want to dress their kids like North and Saint West, the couple’s two kids.

The most expensive item in the line is this $240 bomber jacket.

Still on the international scene…

Nicki Minaj went on a spree on Saturday night.

The No Frauds rapper was on Twitter promoting a contest that would earn fans a free trip to meet her at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas when a fan asked, “Well you wanna pay for my tuition?”

Nicki replied, “Show me straight A’s that I can verify w/ur school and I’ll pay it. Who wants to join THAT contest?!?! Dead serious. Shld I set it up?”

Nicki Minaj ended up offering to pay more than $25,000 of her fans’ student loans, tuition and other costs.

Another Nollywood actor passes on

Barely two weeks after the death of Nollywood veteran, Olumide Bakare, the industry has lost another actor.

Adeshina Adesanya, popularly known as Pastor Ajidara, died from a kidney disease he had been battling since 2013.

He passed on Saturday hours after calls were made by his colleagues for donations towards his treatment.
