Enyeama nominated for BBC African player of the year

Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama, has been nominated among five players for the BBC African Footballer of Year for 2014.

Reigning champion, Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure was nominated for the sixth consecutive year, while Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Algeria forward Yacine Brahimi, and Ivory Coast’s Gervinho complete the list.

32-year-old Enyeama is the sole goalkeeper among the lot, after having went an impressive season for French club Lille, which saw him keep 21 clean sheets last season. He was also a prominent part of the Nigerian team that won the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa.

According to the organisers, the winner of the award will be decided by fans of African football, who have until 24th of November to vote for their choice online or through SMS.

The winner will be announced on the 1st of December.
