Hosts, France have kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign in solid fashion as they defeated Romania 2-1 at the Stade de France.

Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud repaid Didier Deschamps’ faith in him as he scored a strong headed goal in the second half for France.

Romania were however, given a golden opportunity seven minutes later when French defender, Patrice Evra conceded a penalty which Bogdan Stancu dispatched smoothly into the net to level the scoreline.

West Ham’s player of the season, Dimitri Payet then rifled a strike into the top corner from the edge of the box, in the closing minutes of the game to bag all three points for the hosts.
