Evans the kidnapper, Nathaniel Bassey, Kamala Harris | Here are this week’s winners and losers

The major newsmakers from last week still found their way into the this week’s buzz and although there are a few new names, making a list of winners and losers is not the most difficult. Men like Dino Melaye and Donald Trump have a way of marking their territory on our losers list but that’s us giving too much away. Read the entire list for details:

WINNERS

Bukola Saraki

The Senate President and proud leader of the 8th senate must have done his victory dance somewhere in private after he was acquitted by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in the 16-count false asset declaration charge brought against him by the Federal Government. The court dismissed the trial as a no-case submission and said the FG failed to provide substantial evidence to prosecute the senate president.

Saraki’s CCT trial victory is a pointer to something bigger, hence the question: Have we reached that point where we start to take Gov Fayose seriously? We ask because this victory was one of his 22 prophetic lines released at the beginning of the year and see how things have played out. We’ll see how events unfold…

Senator Kamala Harris

The first question you’d probably be asking right now is, “who is Kamala Harris?”. Second question may be around the lines of “why are we talking about her?”

Well, she’s that outstanding Democrat in the US Congress who has become the star of the Senate Intelligence Committee hearings that have held in the last two weeks. At both hearings, she got interrupted by some of the male senators including John McCain and the world noticed.

Beyond all of that, what is more remarkable about Harris is that she is the second black woman to be elected to the US Senate. That’s enough to make her a winner this week and we’ve made sure of that. Hold up! A number of people are already teasing Senator Harris for US President. Save this in your archives.

Nathaniel Bassey

Simply because Nathaniel don blow! The convener and lead praise master of the viral, life-transforming, miracle-spewing #HalleluyahChallenge, Nathaniel Bassey didn’t even have to sell a record to blow. God did JUST LIKE THAT!!! Check for proof on his Instagram @Nathanielblow

Abba Kyari

Wait up! Don’t get confused, it’s not President Buhari’s Chief of Staff.

It’s the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lagos state and leader of the IGP team that handled the operation that led to the arrest of notorious kidnapper, Evans.

The Nigerian Police has a bright future with men like Kyari in the force, you say?

LOSERS

Evans the kidnapper

The notorious, billionaire kidnapper is the biggest name on the news in these parts. He was nabbed by the police in his multi-million naira mansion in Magodo, Lagos last Sunday and since then, we’ve been treated to revelations and confessions that have had us spellbound.

Evans as he is popularly known gets paid in dollars, hijacks bullion vans, deals in drugs, possesses an array of firearms and deadly weapons, uses anti-tracking devices worth millions of naira and is the son of a man who sells pigs for a living. Wawuu! What a CV!

We await his trial.

Dino Melaye

For being a menace all through this week and leading a protest that led to violent attacks that claimed a number of lives in Kogi, this man will maintain his place on our losers list for a very long time.
