“And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.” 2 Kings 4:4 (KJV)
There is an anointing that you can only receive behind closed doors. When you are behind closed doors, you come to God just as you are, there is no one to impress, nothing to show off, only God’s face to behold.
The widow woman in the scripture above had debts left by her husband that were threatening the very foundation of the family, as creditors were ready to come and take the sons as slaves, but she knew the right place to go. She went to the man of God who instructed her to borrow empty vessels, as many as she could lay hands on, get behind closed doors with her sons and begin to pour oil out of the little jar she had in her house into those vessels.
First and foremost, before you get behind closed doors, you must have something already inside you. You must have received Jesus into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour because the oil symbolises the Holy Spirit. When you have done that, get behind closed doors and seek the face of the Lord and see Him multiply His anointing in your life in a manner you never imagined before.
When you come behind closed doors, you make Him know that without Him you can do nothing. You come acknowledging His sovereignty. Until Jacob went behind closed doors in the encounter with the angel, his name was not changed from Jacob – supplanter to Israel – the prince with God. Elisha walked with Elijah behind closed doors and got a double portion behind closed doors, that was why the only thing people knew of him was that he poured water on the hands of Elijah. Beloved, get behind closed doors, get real with God. Get alone with Him and watch Him release a fresh anointing into your life. The anointing of yesterday is not sufficient for today.
