Vlisco fabrics recently launched a new collection called ‘Delicate Shades’ at the posh Protea Hotel, Ikeja.
This is its first launch in Nigeria and it featured a collection from uber designer; Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi. We caught up with the jet-setting beauty at the show (our second in the quarter, just because we love her!) and engaged her in a quick high fashion Q & A surrounding her work.
“The name of the collection is ‘Delicate Shades’ and we work with different shades of fabric that make it possible to create two different designs in one.”
What informed the collaboration with Vlisco?
Well I have been working with them for a while now and I love their fabrics; the quality and texture so when this chance came, I jumped at it.
What was your inspiration for this particular collection?
The name of the collection is ‘Delicate Shades’ and we work with different shades of fabric that make it possible to create two different designs in one. This makes the clothes sexy, durable and very wearable.
Will you be collaborating with Vlisco again in the future?
Definitely, this is not going to be the last.
How long did it take you to put this together?
You see, there was a problem with delivery and we did not get the materials on time, but then there was the Sallah break so we made good use of that. Essentially we had one week to do this.
So what is next for LDA?
As a designer, you always look for the next project, you take orders from clients so they can buy and wear. It is a continuous cycle; you keep doing collection after collection.
