The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has revealed that five out of the ten Nigerians infected by the deadly Ebola Virus Disease are responding to treatment.
Fashola shared these figures during a meeting with traditional rulers and religious leaders on Monday, 11 August, at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos.
The aim of the meeting was to enable the government educate and enlighten traditional rulers and religious leaders, as part of measures to curb the spread of the Ebola disease.
Fashola said that eight infected persons had tested positive, while the results of the remaining two were still being awaited. He also added anyone infected should not regard it as a death sentence because with the right attitude and appropriate medical help, the disease could be managed.
Meanwhile, Fashola implored religious leaders not to spiritualise the disease, adding that the best place to seek help was in the hospital and not religious houses.
The infected EVD victims are being treated at an Ebola isolation facility in Yaba, Lagos.
