The Federal Executive Council (FEC) will meet today to ratify the National Infrastructure Master Plan (NIMP).

The minister of National Planning and deputy chairman, National Planning Commission (NPC), Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, who hinted of this said the plan had already being ratified by the governors at the last Economic Council (NEC) meeting last month.

Nigeria’s infrastructure master plan, a 30-year project spanning between 2014 and 2043, is meant to accelerate infrastructure development in the country and will focus on key areas of infrastructure including energy, housing, agriculture, ICT, roads, and security.

During a visit to the headquarters of the Subsidy Reinvestment Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) in Abuja, the minister said he was in the office to solicit the committee’s assistance in the area of project monitoring and evaluation, as well as generating data on victims of insurgency.

He hinted that the planning ministry will actually embark on project inspection, monitoring and evaluation of federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as scheduled within the month, noting that “our commission cannot go it alone and that is why we need your collaboration.”
