“Figment of someone’s imagination”: Reuben Abati on Aso Rock rape scandal

by Lekan Olanrewaju

President Goodluck Jonathan is said to have placed a gag order on all his aides and assistance over a rape scandal involving one of his personal assistants. The president’s personal assistant for domestic affairs is alleged to have raped an expatriate staff.

The personal assistant, Dr Temple, who has been relieved of his duties, reportedly forced the female to have sex with him, ignorant of the fact that security cameras were rolling.

Said security tapes were reportedly retrieved after the lady reported the crime to the authorities in the presidential villa. The president then, in an attempt to cover up the crime, relieved Dr. Temple of his duties and evicted him from the Villa and ordered that no one disclose details of the issue to the public.

However, sources close to Dr.Temple allege that he was involved in an extra marital affair with the expatriate staff. “This is not the first time that Dr. Temple is having sex with that woman, so why all the fuss?” one said.

In response to online enquiries, aides to President Jonathan all deny that such an incident occurred and claim that the reports are part of a scheme to malign the image of the president.

“This is the figment of someone’s imagination,” Dr. Reuben Abati, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, said. “Please, no one committed such a crime around here.”

Dr. Temple has since been replaced by Hon. Dudafa Waripamowei, former commissioner for local government in Bayelsa state.
