Osinbajo relaunched Nigeria’s economy – French Prime Minister

The French government has promised to assist Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.

French Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, made the promise at a bilateral meeting he had with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in Paris on Friday.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, Cazeneuve was quoted to have said France knows the consequences of terror attacks on populations.

The Prime Minister said terrorism cannot be defeated if countries work alone.

“The French government will be focussing on how to enhance and deepen relationship with Nigeria, including on issues of counter terrorism and sharing information when it comes to de-radicalisation,” he said.

The Prime Minister also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the military over the degrading of Boko Haram.

He commended Osinbajo for his role as acting President while Buhari was in London.

“You played a significant role for your country while holding the fort for your country. Also you play an important role in re-launching the Nigerian economy,” he said.

Osinbajo while speaking said Nigeria has made huge progress in suppressing the insurgency.

He added that the important thing was to defeat the ideology behind the insurgency.

“One thing left for us to deal with is de-radicalisation, defeating the ideology behind the mindless killing and violence. This is now what we have to deal with,” Osinbajo said.
