To paraphrase a popular catchphrase – in Nigeria, music videos are getting richer and richer while the music itself is getting poorer. Piss-poor.

By steadily making mediocre cameos  on other people’s songs  – Lagos Party (Remix) – and recording iffy singles of his own –‘I do this’ – D’Banj has recently not been able to consistently  do what his last album  claimed the Kokomaster could do on a whim – entertain.

Now, with the release of probably the most dreadful song of his singing career, Endowed (remix) , Mo Hit’s marquee artiste has once again fallen short of expectations.

The video was shot in Los Angeles, California and has the settings of a mini coming together of two nations – USA and Nigeria. Both country’s flags were on display, a Nigerian passport was customised for the American rap veteran and we even had toilet paper made out of dollar bills.

But most impressive of all for me was the green-white-green Rolls Royce Phantom D’Banj and his partner-in -rhyme Don Jazzy pulled up in. Interestingly, those who’ve followed Oluwa Snoop’s career know about the Dogfather’s love affair with another type of green – ganja. And while I’m in no way trying to imply that the Kokomaster engaged in Snoop Dogg’s favorite recreational activity along with him, I’m just trying to make a mental checklist of the things that could have possibly gone wrong in the vocal booth – ‘Cali weed’ is, after all, notorious for knocking out its users the first time.

Legend has it that D’Banj recorded the video for his ’07 hit Mobolowowon with a camcorder. While I can’t verify its authenticity, the moral of my story is – we don’t mind if you shoot your videos with a camera phone and try to edit your video stills with Microsoft Paint, just give us some good music and you’ll get the love. Obviously, you know my verdict on this video. Y!
