“Fundamental questions”: PDP wonders why the Oyo governor’s daughter is schooling abroad

by Hauwa Gambo

The wife to the Oyo governor, Florence Ajimobi might have escaped allegations that she was arrested by the London Metropolitan Police this week, but the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) isn’t done yet.

The PDP’s publicity secretary, Lukuman Agboluaje, has asked Mrs. Ajimobi to explain exactly how many times she has travelled outside of the country. PM News had alleged that she has travelled 52 times.

“As much as we are not in a position to join issues with Mrs. Ajimobi on the alleged money laundering charges as reported by a local newspaper using an online publication as its source, we are constrained to ask some fundamental questions, especially from her own defence on arrival,” Agboluaje said.

“We are aware of the free education policy of the present administration in the state and our concern is the inability of the state’s first couple to allow their kid daughter enjoy the free education being dished out to the populace rather than for the First Lady to incessantly visit her daughter every three weeks in a UK secondary school.”

Agboluaje also pointed to other issues, especially PM News’s allegation that the State Agency for the Control of Aids is now under the office of the First Lady – wondering if the state is suffering from a lack of qualified hands.

Then the party ends with a cheeky missive:

“This is more so important when it is realised that a major shareholder of the offending publishing house, Independent Communication Ltd, is Senator Bola Tinubu, National leader of the ACN and the godfather of Governor Ajimobi.”

  1. GEJ children are not even in public school not to talk of a private school owned by a nigerian !!!!if anything would be good in ds country then politicians should face the same challenges as the ordinary man, send their children to public schools all the way to university, generators should be banned ,road transport for all politicians on goverment assignment ,slash down salaries & allowances for politicians, increased taxes . The list is endless. Public office should be made less attractive. The way I see it all the political parties are the same cos the nigerian orientation is still the ;'Belle First mentality'

  2. Mr Agoluaje, why won't U̶̲̥̅̊ critize wen U̶̲̥̅̊ re deaf and there different btw 2007 and 2011 her daughter has been schooling in abroad b4 she became first lady. And she also said that, she can not bcos of been first lady and left her responsibilies on her children behinde. Sir, everybody can not be like U̶̲̥̅̊ that has no responsibilities on people they governs and family so, if U̶̲̥̅̊ don't know what to say U̶̲̥̅̊ better keep mute.

  3. I'm feeling this New PDP o! E be like say I will join them. Let's assume Mrs Ajimobi was not arrested, what about all the other allegations levied against her by Tinubu's newspaper??? If the education system in Oyo State is better, why can't they bring their daughter back to Nigeria? Mrs Ajimobi has usurped the funds and functions of some local govts and agencies, and transferred them to her office. If she's travelling every 3wks, what time does she have to perform the functions of her office?

These Ajimobi's are a joke. Make dem quick comot for Oyo State I beg!

  4. I think the man speaking should also tell us where his children school, if they school in our public schools….dumbass politicians!

  5. Stupid party. I'm not a member of any party.. I think pdp are jst looking 4 a way of blackmailing. d current administration. All this craps are not new to Nigerians.

  6. It is a tradition in Nigeria that almost all our ruling politicians children school abroad..so its not new,PDP should not accuse anybody….we just pray that God should reign in the affairs of Nigeria!!!

  7. Nigerians and conspiracy theories,Mr Agboluaje could do us all a big favour by giving us the fact/evidence about Bola Tinubu as the major shareholder of independent communications ltd. Some people are yet to face the fact that Nigerian now don't listen the word of the mouth but facts.

    1. It is a known fact that Tinubu owns the majority shares in PM News. Maybe he had a money deal-gone-bad with Ajimobi, hence the drama…
