Benue ex-Governor allegedly arrested in UK for beating up his wife

Former Benue state governor, Gabriel Suswan has been reportedly arrested by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom for allegedly battering his wife.

He was immediately booked him into its London detention centre, where he was to remain in detention.

The resident judge at the time however set a £5,000 (N1.5 m) bail bound for him before he was released.

Suswam got arrested when his wife, Yemisi reportedly placed an emergency call to the police from their house in London to report that the former governor had physically assaulted her.

She explained to the police that during a minor argument in which she confronted her husband’s questionable relationship with possible mistress ‘Shidoo’, he battered her and this made her to run for her life.

If found guilty, the ex-governor could be jailed for about six months in the UK under the Persons Act of 1861.
