Gbenga Sesan, Tolu Ogunlesi, Tosyn Bucknor and others speak at TEDxIfe

From 27 February to 27 April, 2012, TEDxIfe, an independently organised event, operated under license from TED will be held at the Conference centre, ObafemiAwolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state.

The event which is themed “Create/Redefine/Change” features 12 of this nation’s leading thinkers, innovators, artists, and entertainers. The audience is made up of young Nigerians and students enthusiastic about art, creativity, the web and technology.

Emmanuel Iduma, organizer and host of TEDxIfe said he was passionate about seeing change happen in Nigeria and Africa. “I strongly believe that these key areas – art, creativity, the web and technology – are drivers of the change we are part of,” he said. ”

Speakers include the co-founder of Nigeria’s hottest job website, Opeyemi Awoyemi; the founder of an art collective, Emeka Okereke; a top radio show host, Tosyn Bucknor; acclaimed political cartoonist, Mike Asukwo, among many others like Victor Ehikhamenor, Qudus Onikeku, Gbenga Sesan, Chineze Anyaene, Tolu Ogunlesi, Segun Adefila, Eghosa Imasuen and Omotola Fawunmi.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

TED is a nonprofit organisation devoted to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’. TED speakers have included Chimamanda Adichie, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
