Nigerian army warns foreign agencies against meddling in fight against Boko Haram

The Nigerian army has warned foreign agencies and countries against interfering in the fight against Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).

In a statement released on Monday January 20 by the Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, the largest component of the Nigerian Armed Forces insisted that its fight against insurgency has recorded significant success.

Supreme court upholds Animu Tambuwal’s election

The Supreme Court has upheld the March 23rd 2019 election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State governorship. Tambuwal was the PDP candidate in the election.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by APC governorship candidate in the election, Aliyu Ahmed, on grounds that the he failed to prove his allegation of non-compliance with the electoral act and issues of over-voting in favour of Tambuwal during the election.

Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, reportedly appoints daughter as special assistant

Pauline Tallen, Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, has reportedly appointed one of her daughters, Violet Osunde, as a Special Assistant in her office.

According to the report, on November 14th 2019, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ifeoma Anagbogu, through the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics Department, reportedly addressed a letter to Osunde, informing her of appointment to serve as a special assistant to the Minister.
