Unexpectedly, the news this afternoon that the Academic Staff Union of Universities has postponed indefinitely its National Executive Meeting over the death of its comrade, Professor Festus Iyayi yesterday – and its implications for the 4-month-old strike have been greeted with disbelief across the nation – and outside.
