Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia has donated 1,800 vehicles, including cars and buses, to youths in three senatorial zones in the state under its youth’s empowerment scheme.
Addressing pressmen at a civic reception organized in his honor by the people of Bende Local Government Area, he said “we will continue to give out cars to the youth free-of-charge until we leave office…this is to empower our young people.”
The yellow commercial vehicles were given for free but on the condition that the receivers would utilize them well enough to earn a living.
The Chairman of the Central Organising Committee of the ceremony, Prof. Sam Igwe, thanked the governor for his people-oriented programme and commended him for rising to the challenge at a time hoodlums laid siege on the state and made life unsafe and miserable for the people.
