With effect from 9 April, RISE Networks will be launching a unique initiative: the youth organisation “will be taking over the back page of Guardian newspapers to launch a new column known as Youth Speak”. According to RISE, this is particularly noteworthy as the Guardian does not have a tradition of back page columns, and back page columns of other publications are generally run by individuals, not organisations.
The new column is planned to be published on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and welcomes articles from members of the public, in the form of analytical opinion editorials in the areas of Governance, Media, Politics, Health, Entertainment, Business, Fashion, Youth Empowerment, Education, Art, Pop culture etc.
See excerpts from the official RISE release below:
As a strategic and germane platform for Young Nigerians to engage Leadership, engage Society, shift the needle on the impact of Youth Development and contribute to National Discourse on diverse issues especially those that are peculiar to Nigeria, please note that all articles must be concise, topical and non-defamatory!
Only articles that have never been published on any blog, website, online portal, newspaper, magazine, newsletter or any other information sharing Medium will feature in this column!
All articles which must be youth related including preferred Pen name, phone number and email address should be sent to [[email protected]] with a theme tagline in capital letters right before the Title. E.g. GOVERNANCE; If I were Nigeria’s President today, here is how I will curb the Boko Haram Imbroglio? Or ENTERTAINMENT; the vast untapped potential of Nollywood and its adverse effect on Nigeria’s economy!
