Gunman who shot US Congressman was angry with President Trump

66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson, identified as the gunman who shot senior Republican Steve Calise and his aides at a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday, was a big hater of conservatives and President Donald Trump.

Reports based on reviews of Hodgkinson’s Facebook profiles, public records, and three years of impassioned letters to his local newspaper revealed this information. On his Facebook page, he posted  on March 22;

“Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.” And then in February, “Republicans are the Taliban of the USA,” he wrote.

According to CNN, his public Facebook posts date back to 2012 and he was very passionate about tax hikes on the rich and universal health care. After Hodgkinson’s Facebook profiles were discovered by news reporters, they were updated to prevent public access. Senator Sanders acknowledged that Hodgkinson volunteered for his presidential campaign last year, but he denounced the violence as “despicable.” He also joined many anti- republican Facebook groups including “Terminate The Republican Party”.

He even donated $18 to Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign through the fundraising platform ACT Blue in 2015 and 2016.

Hodgkinson was charged with two counts of battery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, criminal damage to a motor vehicle and two counts of domestic battery.
