What happened in those “four key moments” Jose Mourinho talked about? (Must Read)

by Mark Bassey

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was a furious man, after the 1-1 draw at home to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues went ahead through Branislav Ivanovic in the first half, but had midfielder Nemanja Matic sent off in the second half. The visitors then made their numerical advantage count, by getting the equalizer.

After the game, Mourinho said: “I’m punished when I refer to these situations. I don’t want to be punished.

“There are four moments where you can write the story of the game — minutes 30, 33 [when a strong Chelsea penalty appeal was turned down for handball on Michael Kightly], 43, 69. Don’t ask me more questions, please.

“Minute 69 [the sending off] has a big relation with minute 30 [a tackle on Ivanovic from Barnes]. This is the story of the game. There is no minute 69 if the man in charge does his job in minute 30.”

So what exactly happened in those minutes?

Min 30: Ashley Barnes is not booked for a rash tackle on Branislav Ivanovic.
Min 33: Michael Kightly appears to block Ivanovic shot in the area with his arm. No penalty awarded.
Min 43: Jason Shackell clashes with Diego Costa in the box. No penalty given too.
Min 69: Nemanja Matic retaliates to another horrendous tackle from Barnes. Red card.

When asked if the club will appeal the red card, he fired back: “Have you ever seen Chelsea win an appeal? I don’t remember.”
