Hillary Clinton blames FBI Director for election loss

Following her defeat in the U.S. presidential election, Hillary Clinton has blamed F.B.I. director James Comey’s decision to revisit the inquiry into her use of a private email server, according to New York Times.

Clinton made the remark on Saturday uring a 30-minute conference call with donors.

She stated that Comey’s decision to send a letter to Congress just 11 days to the election revived the controversy, an stopped the momentum of her campaign.

“There are lots of reasons why an election like this is not successful,” Mrs. Clinton said, according to a donor who relayed the remarks. But, she added, “our analysis is that Comey’s letter raising doubts that were groundless, baseless, proven to be, stopped our momentum.”

Comey’s second letter clearing her two days before the election had an even more damaging effect, her campaign said.

Her campaign said the seemingly positive outcome had only hurt it with voters who did not trust Mrs. Clinton and were receptive to Mr. Trump’s claims of a “rigged system.”

Mrs. Clinton added that after leading in majority of the polls, “we dropped, and we had to keep really pushing to regain our advantage, which going into last weekend we had.”

“We were once again up in all but two of the battleground states, and we were up considerably in some that we ended up losing,” Mrs. Clinton said. “And we were feeling like we had to put it back together.”

Clinton was defeated in the polls by Donald Trump who polled 279 electoral college votes as against her 228.
