An attack, which was aimed at the HQ of Charlie Hebdo, a publication known for it’s controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in 2011 has left twelve people dead. The casualties have been reported to include journalists and policemen. The gunshots started at 11am on Wednesday by the gunmen and have been confirmed to have used Kalashnikov AK47 rifles and rocket launchers.Despite efforts by the police to stop the attackers via a shootout, they made away in a hijacked car.

The policemen were able to identify the attackers as Islamic terrorist because of the chant they recited which was, “Allahu Akbar” – “God is greatest” – as they opened fire.

Although unclear images have emerged of the gunmen, masked, standing close to a black car wielding their weapons at the scene, more images show windows with bullet holes.
