The law has finally caught up with four women as they were arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for specialization in baby trafficking.
The four suspects Kate Anwacha, Eucharia Anyeagbu, Rita Madubuko, and Grace Nnadozie, were arrested in Jos after they tried to sell an eight-month-old baby, Chiamaka Obinna in Awka, Anambra State.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, told news men that the mother of the baby, Blessing Godspower, reported to the police that her mother, Kate Anwacha, dishonestly sent her on an errand and thereafter sold her baby, Chiamaka Obinna, at the rate of N200,000 to Eucharia Anyeagbu. After which Eucharia sold the baby again at the sum of N330,000 to Rita Madubuko, in Awka, Anambra State.
In turn, Rita sold the baby to Grace Nnadozie, at the sum of N500,000 but the baby was recovered by detectives of ‘A’ Division, Jos on July 24.
Chris Olakpe added that the suspects would be charged to court after thorough investigation.
