“I cannot sign the result” | PDP has rejected the Osun figures

by Isi Esene

“I cannot sign. We cannot accept the outcome of the election.”

That was the statement made by Bola Ajao, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent in the Osun gubernatorial elections when he was called upon to sign the results sheet at the INEC office this morning after the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was declared winner.

According to INEC, Aregbesola polled 394,684 votes to beat his opponent, Iyiola Omisore who polled 292,750 votes.

Ajao refused to endorse the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Bamitale Omole on Sunday morning in the state capital, Osogbo stating that the Party noticed some irregularities in the voting process therefore the figures made public is unacceptable.

“My principal, Iyiola Omisore, knows the next line of action,” he stated. “We will decide what to do. We have earlier written a petition to INEC to establish our complaints.”
