INEC denies its officials were arrested for diverting voting materials in Osun (UPDATED)

The All Progressives Congress has alleged that two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Obokun Local government area of Osun state were arrested for attempting to divert voting materials to be used for tomorrow’s governorship election in the state. The party shared the photos below as “proof”.

According to a statement from the party, “One of the men who is the Electoral Officer of Obokun LGA reportedly confessed to the crime, but declined to mention whose orders they were acting on. The suspects are presently detained at the State CID of the Police Command in Oshogbo.”

However, INEC has denied the report. It calls the incident a “mis-interpretation of instructions” by its personnel and insists “no sensitive documents” were involved in the incident.
