Top Muslim cleric, Adam Idoko, abducted in Enugu

Adam Idoko, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has been kidnapped.

Idoko, who is also the Chief Imam of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was reportedly taken in the early hours of Thursday in his village, Ogrute Enugu-Ezike in Nssukka, Enugu state.

According to Premium Times, the abduction was confirmed by Murtada Gusau, the Chief Imam of Nagazi-Uvete Jumu’at Mosque, Okene, Kogi State.

Gusau said the Muslim community reported the incident to the police shortly after it happened.

The Police spokesperson of the Enugu Police Command, Amaraizu Ebere, also confirmed the abduction.

“We got useful information related to the abduction, which we would not want to tell the press now. But I can assure you that the command is doing its best on the matter.”
