Jonathan commends Amaechi on NFF complex

President Goodluck Jonathan has commended River State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi for the construction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Office Complex.

President Jonathan rained praises on the Governor; chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for Super Eagles’ 2010 world cup qualification and members of the PTF while commissioning the office complex situated at the National Stadium, on Thursday.

Jonathan who was represented at the official opening of the football house by the Vice President Namadi Sambo, lauded the PTF for conceiving and delivering the project which he said is a significant milestone in football development and administration.

He also commended the PTF for its vision to deploy remnants of funds raised for the Super Eagle’s qualification for 2010 World Cup towards construction of a befitting office complex for the NFF.

President Jonathan said the edifice should serve as a catalyst for better administration and general performance of the football sector.

He therefore urged the football federation to take seriously, the development of youths of the country using football, as direct fallout of recent Presidential Retreat on Sports.

Earlier in his address, Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Bolaji Abdullahi, also eulogized the PTF for the legacy project considering that the construction of the football house was not part of it’s terms of reference.

The Minister, who vouched for the integrity of the committee, pointed out that the funds could as well have disappeared into private pockets.

Abdullahi also commended the construction company, Paul B, for delivering the project on schedule adding that the transformational project is in line with vision of the NSC to make the National stadium the hob of sports development.

Former Director General of NSC and Secretary of PTF, Patrick Ekeji who spoke on behalf of the PTF expressed appreciation of the committee to have served in ensuring the qualification of the super Eagles for the 2010 world cup.
