Enugu House impeaches Deputy Governor

by Isi Esene

The Enugu State House of Assembly has impeached the state Deputy Governor, Sunday Onyebuchi.

The decision was adopted by a 7-man impeachment panel set up by the state Chief Judge, Justice Innocent Umezulike.

The Enugu state Assembly had accused Onyebuchi  of running a commercial poultry at his official residence and also disobeying Governor  Chime.

He had testified before the impeachment panel set up by the Chief Judge of the state, that the Governor also operated a piggery at the Government House.

However, he said when the panel began sitting, the Governor’s poultry was promptly evacuated.

He also added that he did commit any offence under the law which should warrant his impeachment, stating that the he started operating the farms before coming into office in 2007.

Meanwhile, widespread reports suggest that Governor Chime may be behind the impeachment of Onyebuchi.
