President Goodluck Jonathan has today signed the 2014 Budget.

The Appropriation Act was passed by the National Assembly several weeks ago with the President delaying its to assent until today.

Jonathan has, however, signed the law “after going through the statutory legislative processes.”

The Information Minister, Labaran Maku, had last week told journalists that the president declined to sign the act because it was distorted by the National Assembly.

“There are few areas of distortions and there are those areas that are very serious; and we think there is a need to look into them because of the negative impact those distortions may have on the implementation of the budget,” Maku said.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will brief journalists later today on the budget.
