Abubakar Abdulrahman, a former employee of Alhaji Ganiyu Akambi Bello has confessed to killing him on June 25, 2015.
Abdulrahman, 26, said he murdered the prominent hotelier while trying to steal money from him.
Bello was the owner of Centre for Excellence Hotel and the Grand Patron of Yoruba Community in Kano State.
The suspect said it was in an effort to steal money from late Bello at his residence in the night, when they dragged and stabbed the man on his left shoulder which resulted to his death.
According to the suspect, “I was not under the influence of alcoholic drinks but my aim was principally to steal money because I needed money, but had no option but to kill my former boss who dismissed me from service some years back.”
The victim was found lying dead in a pool of his own blood in the toilet in his house at Race course, Nasarawa, GRA, Kano.
The police chief told journalists that luck, however, ran against the culprit when he was arrested at his residence in Badawa Quarters, Kano State, after some implicating clues were traced, preserved and scrupulously managed from the scene.
