Kogi State Government has debunked reports published by Saharareporters on Friday, that its government, under the administration of Governor Yahya Bello recently bought expensive cars worth one billion Naira for use by the Governor and his aides.
The report stated that a campaign organisation, The Audu-Faleke Political Organization, made the claim and blasted the government for its insensitivity. The group claimed that the Kogi state Government procured Ford SUVs (jeeps) worth N18 million each and Ford Ranger Trucks (pickup van) worth N6 million each for 21 Local Government Caretaker Chairmen in the State, totaling N504 million.
The group also claimed to be in possession of information about the government’s purchase of a BMW and G-Wagon Mercedes Benz as official vehicles for the Chief of Staff.
According to the same claims, the cars in the Chief of Staff’s fleet are serviced and maintained by Coscharis Motors, Abuja.
However, the Kogi state Government has dispelled the report through a press release issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy.
“Our attention have been drawn to a publication on the online news site- Sahara Reporters- where it was alleged that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has spent 1 billion naira to purchase vehicles for the political appointees in the state.”
