The casualty figure in the suicide bomb attack which took place today at the Federal College of Education in Kontagora, Niger state continues to be a subject of confusion.
Contrary to eyewitness reports indicating that about 10 people lost their lives in the attack, police spokesman, Ibrahim Gambari said that only the bomber died and four others were injured — three students and a bystander.
According to Gambari, “An unidentified suicide bomber blew herself up before she could reach her target, which was the school library where many students were reading for their exams.”
The blast came two days after 47 people were killed in a suspected Boko Haram suicide bombing at a school in Potiskum, Yobe state.
President Goodluck Jonathan has, however, responded to the Yobe attack vowing to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book.
He condoled with the families of the victims and promised not to relent on his efforts to tackle the challenge of insecurity in the country.
