Lauretta Onochie is a disaster and the Presidency needs to get rid of her NOW

Lauretta Onochie

by Titilayo Ade-Ogbo

“President Buhari will go on medical leave but only on his doctor’s appointment. Not by being hounded.”

-Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media.

And those were the words she chose to explain the situation of her boss, President Muhammadu Buhari who is ill and has been for months now but has refused to inform Nigerians the nature of his illness.

[In case you missed it: Buhari will go on another medical vacation – media aide]

Apparently, someone instructed her to inform Nigerians via social media that the President will be travelling on vacation but she thought that the wise thing to do was to add her own unintelligent comments.

So this woman, whose default sense of politeness has been horribly impaired by her false sense of importance thinks that the act of Nigerians asking the President to take care of his health properly amounts to them “hounding” him.

You know what, to be completely honest, we cannot fathom why this woman has the job she does. With the existence of two special assistants on media and publicity, a Bashir Ahmad and a Tolu Ogunlesi (and because we are extra, let’s throw in Minister Lai Mohammed) all hitting us daily with information from and about the Presidency, why on earth does President Muhammadu Buhari need an uncouth, inefficient and frankly too-old-to-be-schooled woman in charge of his social media communications?

Not only is she in charge of an office whose existence has no use, she consistently misuses it. Speaking to the people with whom her job requires her to communicate to with utter disrespect and a misplaced sense of authority. The same people, by virtue of whose votes she has the job she now does.

Seriously, this woman needs to go. And NOW too!

[Have you seen this? What’s this Lauretta Onochie’s game with Ali Modu Sheriff]

See it’s easy, there’s no need for an investigative panel; no need for an inquiry. The government needs to spend less money anyway and this woman’s job is as unnecessary as the “t” in ‘hustle’. And whatever the justification there was for her employment, she has proved that she only exists to hurt the cause of those she represents.

So fire her!
