Could this be why DSS sacked Marilyn Ogar?

After Lawal Daura took over from Ekpeyong Ita as Director-General of the Department of State Services, one of his first tasks was the demotion of the former DSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar and many other senior officers.

Ogar was removed as the deputy director of the agency in charge of public relations and also lost the promotion she got as a parting gift from the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

And then on Wednesday, September 2, Ogar, one other director and 42 senior officials, were sent on compulsory retirement.

According to the folks at Punch, the mass-retrenchment in the service by Daura, is to “re-professionalise the service by weeding out politically-exposed operatives.”

Essentially, operatives of the agency who have had or have any form of romance with politicos will be shown the door.

An unnamed source revealed to Punch that: “Operatives should be impartial to a large extent but many officials failed to do this. The service is for Nigerians and not for political parties.”
