The Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola has denied claims by the opposition that the former Lagos State Governor and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is backing the candidacy of Rotimi Akeredolu, for the governorship election because of what is in it for him financially.
The Osun governor said this at the ACN campaign in Ondo Town to rally support for the Akeredolu candidacy. He said Tinubu has never demanded for money from any of his proteges.
Aregbesola said Tinubu “never asked for money from any of his proteges”.
“We begged Mimiko not to toe a different path but he did. He lied that Tinubu is after Ondo funds.
“Even though everything I am is because of Tinubu, he never asked for anything in return. In fact, I’m the one who still collects money from him,” he said.
He reportedly urged the electorate to vote for Rotimi Akeredolu saying a vote for him is essentially a vote for the Yoruba race.
“You will be voting for the Yoruba race by voting for the ACN. This election will determine whether you are concerned about the development of Yorubaland and the country generally,” Aregbesola said.
According to him, “It would be unheard of for Ondo to be ruled by a party different from the other states of the South-West.”
