‘Mad man’ found with foreign currency burnt to death in Oyo

A man believed to have been disguised as a lunatic has been burnt to death by a mob in Oyo after they claimed that he was a kidnapper.

The man was said to have been found with a gun and an undisclosed amount of foreign currency in the Oke Ado area of Ibadan but the mob had carted away the evidence before the police arrived.

It is not known if the sudden increase in the number of suspicious mad men being discovered in Ibadan is connected with the recently unmasked “house of horror” or if it is due to the high tensions the incident has caused in the state.

Leadership reports:

Two other people were also arrested at the Ibadan Forest of Death by security operatives for allegedly being in possession of incriminating items.

The suspected lunatic was burnt at Oke Ado area, Ibadan, Oyo State by a mob who suspected that he was a kidnapper.

LEADERSHIP gathered that a pistol and an unknown amount of money in foreign currencies were found on the man but the mob took away the items before the arrival of the police.

The second suspected man was nabbed by another mob at Mokola but was rescued by policemen attached to Sango Police Division.

Public relations officer of the state police command, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor who confirmed the two incidents said 42 SIM cards of various networks, three national identity cards bearing various names and N11,600 cash of different denominations were recovered from one of the suspected mad men.

Meanwhile, a suspect Sulaiman Olajide Popoola, 54, who was arrested at the forest for allegedly scavenging at the site, claimed that he came from Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State to  the site in search of chicken feed.
