25-year-old Edikan John has allegedly killed his stepmother in Esit Urua community, in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to The Punch, the suspect killed the woman around 10pm on Saturday and fled, and is yet to be found.

The victim’s widower, Julius John, said he was relaxing on the bed when he heard his wife’s scream. He rushed out only to find that she had been hacked to death by his son.

“It was not long after I left for bed that I heard a scream from my wife. As I rushed out, I saw blood everywhere from the machete injury Edikan had inflicted on her. Since the incident, I have yet to see Edikan,” he said.

John said the matter had been reported to the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, has been unreachable to confirm the incident.
