Popular Twitter user, Dr. Funmilayo appears to be a man of his words, as he has shown up with the “legal steps” he promised his accuser, Bola Aseyan. 

On Friday, he posted on the microblogging site, screenshots of the legal documents he served Bola on the charge of defamation. He explained that he emailed the documents to her but he is yet to get a response, prompting him to post it on social media, in case she missed it.

In a series of tweets last week, Bola Aseyan had accused Dr. Funmilayo of raping and emotionally abusing her in their relationship. While awaiting his reply, two Twitter users doubted her claims, accusing Bola of being a violent individual known for spinning webs of lies and seeking attention.

Dr. Funmilayo in a 3-part response denied the allegation, declaring that they had two sexual encounters; one in which they were heavily drunk and the other was consensual. He stated that she was not a resident in the United Kingdom and that he paid for her visa costs to travel to the United Kingdom.

According to the legal documents published, the accused is demanding a sum of £10,000 in compensation, a written apology, a retraction of the accusations, erasure of defamatory statements against him; all within 7 days from the 2nd of July, 2020.

Some have pointed out that rape accusations should not be taken lightly and people who resort to false accusations in order to smear the name of an individual should be prosecuted.

I will keep saying this, false accusations as the same weight as rape it self. The same punishment must be inline for anyone found guilty of rape or false accusations. U should never accuse someone wrongly as much rape shud never exist. NOW SOMEONE MUST PAY or else konidafu yin

Bola is yet to respond to the latest update, although she had earlier reported that she would be taking legal actions on the case as well and is in cooperation with the police.
