The immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has denied allegations that he has a hand in the alleged theft of N21 billion in his ministry during his term as the minister.
He also denied allegations of his arrest by anti-graft agencies as speculated in some quarters, especially in the social media, adding that some people rushed to his residence in Abuja to verify the allegation and were surprised to see him in the comfort of his home.
Punch reports that Moro spoke at a reception in his honor at his country home, Ugbokolo, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday.
He noted that the peddlers of the rumor were only out to cast aspersions on his image. He added that throughout his tenure as a minister, the ministry did not even record a budget of N10 billion.
Moro explained further that it is only proper for him to accept responsibility for every action and inaction of his subordinates, particularly the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise, where 16 people died.
However, he said the job of providing employment had not been accomplished in the country until the last person on the street was employed; 24-hour electricity; until an average Nigerian has access to three square meals per day and shelter over his or her heads.
He faulted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the PDP lost power at the centre, describing them as fair-weather politicians, while urging the remainng members of the PDP to remain steadfast as the party would soon bounce back, having discovered its mistakes.
