Mother of fallen Sgt Johnson claims Trump disrespected her son

The mother of Sgt La Davids Johnson, the fallen soldier who was killed in Niger said President Trump disrespected her son during a condolence phone call.

Cowanda Jones-Johnson in an interview with the Washington Post confirmed Democratic Rep. Frederica S. Wilson’s claim of hearing president Trump on a speakerphone telling Johnson’s widow that her husband “must have known what he signed up for”.

“President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband,” Jones-Johnson said. Though she declined to elaborate on the call, but she said Wilson’s allegation was true.

Trump, however, in response to the claims, tweeted on Wednesday that the Congresswoman allegation was untrue and fabricated, claiming he had proof to substantiate his denial.

Meanwhile, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders later said that members of the Administration, including Kelly, were listening in to the call and said it was “disgusting” that the issue had been politicised.
