“Mueller and Comey’s relationship is very bothersome”- President Trump

In an interview with Fox News, Thursday, President Trump would not directly comment on whether special counsel Robert Mueller should recuse himself from the investigation into a possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia, but found the relationship between former FBI director James Comey and Mueller very bothersome.

“He’s very, very good friends with Comey, which is very bothersome,” Trump said, adding that those overseeing the federal government inquiry “were all Hillary Clinton supporters.”

According to reports, Several Trump allies have publicly called for Mueller’s recusal from the investigation. Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert called on the government to “get rid of” “dirty” Mueller from the investigation last week. Special counsel Robert Mueller, who is overseeing the independent probe into Trump campaign and Russian was James Comey’s predecessor and served from 2001 to 2013 as FBI Director, at which point Comey took on his duties.

Former chief White House ethics counsel Richard Painter responded to those calling Mueller’s recusal from Trump surrogates by saying it would only create “more obstruction of justice if it happens.”
