Omobolanle Fadare has asked  Alagbado Grade A Customary Court to dissolve her union to Mr Jamiu Fadare.  The 32 year old food vendor claimed that her husband is constantly beating her noting further that he gives her daily doses of beating: morning and evening.

She lamented that these beatings are without any previous quarrel or disagreement. She said that he does not care for her or their children and when he is leaving the house, he would give them N500 for feeding.

Omobolanle stated further that he accused her of using his luck to boost her business. She stated that he has been moving his things out of the house in bits until he finally left the house in October 2012.

The food vendor said that she does not love him any more and wants the court to dissolve the union. She also wants the court to make him responsible for the welfare and upkeep of the children.

The respondent, Jamiu Fadare, a 42 year old sign-artist, said that all her claims are false. He said that he does not beat her before but two years ago when she started making money, she became stubborn and disobedient.

He said that he takes care of his family adequately and even makes sure to buy them gifts during festivities. He stated that she does not spend any money for the upkeep of the children.

He added that she has faced the building of her house squarely. He said that he left the house when there was no more peace in the house.

He complained that it was after he left the house that he discovered that she was having an affair with a 60 year old man in their house. He lamented that when ever he calls her mother to complain, her mother would always take sides with her.

He told the court that he does not love her anymore and wants the court to grant him a divorce. He also wants custody of the children.

The court president, Mr P.A Williams, adjourned the case till Thursday 26th September 2013.
