New Super Eagles coach, Rohr wants Enyeama back on team

Super Eagles new technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has said he is not bothered about when his salary will be paid yet.

He said this on Thursday at his first pre-match press briefing in Uyo where the team is currently camping ahead of the clash between Nigeria and Tanzania on Saturday.

While responding to questions from newsmen, Rohr said he is more concerned about building a formidable team at the moment.

Rohr said he has had experiences of working and not getting paid, citing an example of his spell as coach of Niger’s national team where he worked for eight months without salaries.

“My problem at the moment is not when my salary is coming; my problem is building a national team,” he said. “We have a contract, and I see everyone who signed the contract as being honest.”

Rohr said his aim was to qualify the team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Rohr revealed his desire to see former Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama back in the team.

“I asked about Enyeama when I signed because I know his qualities.”

“I also spoke with the goalkeepers’ coach Alloy Agu and he spoke highly of him. I’ve called and spoken with Enyeama since my resumption but nothing is settled yet. I will see him after the Tanzania game because I saw him play in France and he’s the kind of player we need to help us move forward.”
