‘One day’, the Army will catch Niger Delta Avengers, who are ‘definitely not Nigerians’

The Defence authorities has said that ‘one day’, the ‘law will catch up with’ the Niger Delta Avangers – a group responsible for recent attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta.

The group first reared its head in April when it threatened to ‘continue blowing up pipelines until the Niger Delta people are no longer marginalised.’

That was after President Muhammadu Buhari and the Joint Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, had threatened to treat the Avengers like criminals.

The vengeful criminals responded with back to back attacks on the Chevron Valve Platform in Delta State and the pipelines that link both Warri and Kaduna with crude feeds.

But according to the Defence spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, “Whoever is doing this thing is not above the law and I believe, one day the law will catch up with him, but definitely they are not Nigerians.”

What now: ‘One day’ is too vague and not specific enough for Nigerians who are currently immersed in darkness as a result of the recent attack. The Army needs to step up and scuttle the operations of the so-called avengers ASAP.
