The Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has declared an indefinite strike to begin on Tuesday, October 3.
Also, labour yesterday, shunned an invitation to the Benue State House of Assembly for the purpose of dialogue in order to intervene between the union and the state government.
In a communiqué signed by the NLC Chairman, Godwin Anya and his TUC counterpart, Tordue Tartenger, they observed that the decision followed the expiration of the seven-day earlier warning strike which ended on September 13.
They urged workers to ensure total compliance with the strike and advised members to ignore the circular by the state deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu directing them to submit their bank statement as failure to do so would lead to loss of their jobs.
