North Korea prepares long range missile capable of reaching US west coast

Following a visit to Pyongyang, Russian politician, Anton Morozov has revealed that North Korea is preparing to test a long-range missile it believes can reach the west coast of the US, Russia’s RIA news agency confirms.

Morozov, a member of the Russian Duma’s international affairs committee said, “They are preparing for new tests of a long-range missile”.

“They even gave us mathematical calculations that they believe prove that their missile can hit the west coast of the United States. As far as we understand, they intend to launch one more long-range missile in the near future. And in general, their mood is rather belligerent”, he added.

Earlier this year, reports circulated that North Korea had stepped up its nuclear ambitions by successfully developing a miniaturised nuclear warhead that can fit inside one of its intercontinental ballistic missiles.

However, in several interviews, including during the UN general assembly, US President Donald Trump who has been engaged in a war of words with Kim Jong Un since assuming office, restated the option of a military approach upon any provocation from the pariah nation.

A displeased Trump said over the weekend that negotiating with Pyongyang was a “waste of time”, noting that the previous administration had failed at keeping the communist country in check, but assured he will not fail.

Trump equally warned during his first address at the 72nd UN General Assembly, last month in New York that the US could “totally destroy” the reclusive state if it is forced to defend itself or its allies.
