[UPDATE] Obanikoro’s sons invited by EFCC for questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has invited for questioning, Babajide and Gbolahan Obanikoro – the sons of a former minister of state for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.

The Lagos homes of former Minister of State were on Tuesday, June 14, raided by operatives of the EFCC.

Obanikoro’s homes which were raided are his private residence at Park View Estate, Ikoyi and another house, also in Ikoyi.

During the course of the operation, the agents of the anti-graft agency took away vehicles, wristwatches and other personal effects of the former minister and his sons.

According to Premium Times, the letters of invitation indicate that the brothers are expected to appear before Hamza Abdulahi, an EFCC investigator, on June 22, 2016 by 10:00 a.m. at 30A Harper Crescent, Zone 7, Abuja.

The letter signed by Kanu Idagu, on behalf of the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, says, “This commission is investigating a case in which your name featured prominently,”

“In view of the above, you’re requested to kindly report for an interview with the undersigned.”

Meanwhile, Demola Rewaju, a close associate of Obanikoro has disclosed that the letter of invitation is dated Wednesday, June 15 and it was received on Friday, June 17.

Rewaju’s disclosure implies that the homes of the former Minister were raided a day before the letters of invitation were sent out by the anti-graft agency to his sons.
