BREAKING: Argentina coach, Gerardo Martino quits

Argentina’s national team coach, Gerardo Martino has resigned following the team’s loss to Chile at the 2016 Copa America final in June.

Martino had promised to continue as the team’s coach but could no longer keep up with criticism from supporters as Argentina failed to lift a silverware on two ocassions under his watch.

In a meeting with the Argentine Football Association today, Tuesday, Martino called it quits.

The former Barcelona coach took charge of the Argentine team in 2014 and lost only one competitive match. His resignation comes less than one month to the 2016 Olympic Games.
