On to Greater Glory: Paul Irabor, popular gospel singer, passes on yesterday

by Chi Ibe

Paul Irabor, Nigerian pastor of the New Breed International Church and gospel praise-and-worship singer based in the United States of America, passed on yesterday January 7 at 6am Nigerian time, of cancer, at an American hospital.

A frequent preacher and performer with the This Present Church, Lagos on his visits to Nigeria, Irabor was loved across Nigeria and the United States especially by young Christians for his ability to command the stage and lead congregations in “powerful” worship sessions.

“He was hardly recognisable at the time of his death, and had spent some time in hospital. This is truly sad news, but we know he has gone to a better place,” a gospel artiste close to the late Irabor told YNaija.

According to his church’s official website, “A graduate of the International Christian Bible College, Pastor Paul has served under some dynamic Pastors in Nigeria and the United States as music director/associate pastor.

“His love for worship, and his emphasis on the presence of God in his delivery, has created several open doors to various conferences, seminars, concerts, and music workshops across the globe.   He has ministered alongside several respected men of God, and has shared the stage with a number of notable Christian recording artists.

Pastor Paul Irabor is also a seasoned preacher and teacher of God’s word.  He is the Senior Pastor of New Breed International Church in Maryland, U.S.A, with a mission to affect lives one soul at a time.  He is committed to this mission, as he teaches the Bible with clarity that gives understanding to all who listen.”

Born on 31 December, 1969, he is survived by a wife, Linda, and four children – Sharon, Beulah, Joshua and David.

  1. It's always sad when someone dies, but I had the misfortune of meeting this guy and I thought he was conceited, proud and arrogant.

  2. Pastor Paul was a blessing, one of the most wonderful people in the world. I am sure he will be resting in the hands of the Lord. I hope that his wife Linda and the children will keep faith. Love. ChiChi Charles

  4. Oh death where is thy sting, oh grave where is thy victory for I now realize that to live is Christ and to die is gain and that there is but a little to enjoy here on earth compared to greater glory in heaven then concluded that the devil has loosed it all. Brethren, I employ you all to keep on sowing good seeds that will positively affect nations like pastor Paul Irabor did for it only makes Satan mad and hit her head on rock. RIP PP. Adieu. There is actually a lot to talk about you. May God give Pastor Linda and your Kids the needed strength to bear your departure.

  8. RIP Pastor Paul Even though your life here on earth was short, it was very fulfilling as you were able to accomplish everything that our heavenly father assigned you. You knw what people? Pastor passed his assignments with an honor and a distinction. Ride on Pastor Paul the angles are waiting 4 you, it is time to sing "God will take care of You in heaven". Pastor Linda, I know this is very hard for you and the kids but dear the lord is your strength and he will see you through. We can only thank God for the life of such a great prophet, gospel artist, pastor, leader, teacher, husband, father and friend .In Pastor Paul you could find every good adjective to define a true child of God. We will miss you so dearly and all we have left of you now are the great memories we shared and wc we will forever remember. There is one more angle in heaven named Paul Irabor!!! I can only imagine the dance shoes you have on dancing in front of your heavenly father. Go on Pastor Paul u have assignment to do in heaven. We love u and wish you could stay but God needs you to lead praise and worship in heaven, you raised a great generation who will carry your mantle on. Go do ur thing Pastor, do what you do best, praising and worshiping God until we meet again.

  9. What a shocking news! Much as we would've loved to have Pastor Paul Irabor live longer, we can't question God. However, we take solace in the scripture which says: to live is Christ and to die is gain. Indeed, Paul Irabor touched many lives both with his inspirational gospel songs as well as with his practical approach in administering the Gospel. He will sadly be missed.

May God grant the entire family the courage and fortitude to bear this sudden shock and grant succor to his wife and children.

May the soul of the departed rest in peace!

  11. I know that Paul Irabor has gone home to rest, though his absence here on Earth will be missed dearly by all of us but we take consolation in the fact that soon and very soon we will meet to part no more.

  12. His death is still a rude shock to me. I find it hard to accept. Pastor Paul was a brother. Such powerful anointing. hmm. well…..to die is gain. May his sweet soul find rest and peace with our God.
